Canada was one of the largest producers of Asbestos, producing almost 70% of the worldwide supply. This heat resistant, durable material was used in a variety of construction materials in both residential and commercial settings as a form of insulation. Many materials were produced as an alternative to asbestos such as fibreglass insulation and polyurethane foams to name a few. Unfortunately, it was not until 1984 that asbestos was banned due to the long-term health effects documented by workers using the material.

New regulations have immersed by the provincial government regulating the removal of asbestos in homes and businesses. Contractors and workers must adhere to regulations as set out by the ministry of labour 278/05. A & E Environmental is fully certified by the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 as a Hazardous Materials Worker as well as for Asbestos Abatement Worker (253W AAW).
